Summer 2012 Dates: May 31 - Aug 2 (no retreat due to scheduling conflicts)
What is OTD all about?
On The Deck College was founded in 2004 as a summer ministry to
serve college-age young adults and to provide an opportunity for Christian
fellowship and spiritual growth.
The format is simple - we gather for fellowship and dinner followed by a brief
talk. The night (officially) ends with praise and worship but there's a
good chance you'll find a good number of OTD'ers hanging out well after the old
people go home!
Who can attend?
ALL college-age (18-22) young adults, including incoming freshman and recent
graduates. Although we are proudly Catholic, we welcome those of all
faiths and backgrounds who are seeking community.
When does OTD meet?
On The Deck meets each Thursday (7:30 - 10) for 10 weeks each summer starting in late May or early June.
We end each summer with an awesome weekend retreat at the LifeTeen Camp
Covecrest in Tiger, Ga.
Where does OTD meet?
We've held OTD at several personal residences over the years and now we're happy
to call the Georgia Tech Catholic Center our summer home.
Address: 172 4th Street NW Atlanta, GA 30313 (do not park in
the street, use the lower level of the adjacent parking deck!)
What does it cost to attend?
Including dinner, each Thursday night costs... nothing. zilch. nada.
zero.
The cost of the retreat varies, but in the past it has averaged about $30 for
the weekend. Yes - thirty.
Who pays for OTD?
The funding sources have varied over the years, ranging from the pockets of the
founders to the generosity of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. If you would
like to donate, please contact Mike or Adam
Who runs OTD?
The core 'leadership' team consists of three of the original founders (Lisa
Epperson, Mike Judge, and Adam Hunt) and several other volunteers. In
additional to the leadership volunteers, we typically have one or two
college-aged interns that handle music and the weekly emcee duties.
What if I'm over 22?
We don't check ID at the door, but the mission of the ministry is to help
college-aged students build community with those that are going through the same
challenges and life changes. There are many other ministries throughout
the Atlanta area where we'd love to help you get plugged in - talk to Adam or
Mike for more info, or check out the following website:
www.yam.org
Where can I get more information?
The leadership team all hold full-time jobs outside of OTD so we generally start
updating the website,
facebook, and twitter in April
to get ready for the summer. You can reach us by email: (mike/adam) at otdatlanta.com.
